Our Story

Four decades of certified expertise in NYC's most demanding commercial kitchens.

Built in New York.
Tested by Every Kitchen in It.

MICO Cooling Corp was founded in 1983 by Helen Riise with a clear purpose: bring reliable, expert commercial equipment service to NYC's restaurant industry. What started as a small refrigeration shop in the metro area has grown into one of New York's most trusted full-service commercial equipment companies.

Over four decades, we've expanded our capabilities to cover everything that powers a commercial kitchen — refrigeration, HVAC, hot cookline equipment, and preventive maintenance programs. Through every era of change in the restaurant industry, MICO's commitment has stayed the same: show up fast, fix it right, and be the partner you can count on when every hour of downtime costs money.

Today, MICO operates with 30+ EPA-certified technicians covering all five boroughs, Westchester, and Nassau County. We service multi-location restaurant chains, independent operators, government facilities, and healthcare institutions — all held to the same exacting standard Helen set on day one.

NYS Certified
Woman-Owned Business.

MICO Cooling Corp is a certified Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) under New York State's certification program — a designation that reflects both Helen Riise's founding leadership and our continued commitment to diversity in the trades.

For clients in the public sector and institutional foodservice, MWBE certification isn't a box to check — it's a procurement requirement. Working with MICO counts toward state-mandated MWBE participation goals on government contracts and can qualify clients for tax incentives tied to diverse supplier programs. For private-sector clients, our MWBE status is a signal of rigor: the certification process involves verified documentation of ownership, control, and business practices. It means you're hiring a company that has been independently evaluated and found to meet high standards.

Mission & Values

Every technician, every service call, every PM visit is governed by the same three principles Helen built this company on.

Technical Excellence

Every MICO technician carries EPA, F60, and G60 certification and undergoes ongoing training on the commercial equipment brands we service. We invest in the latest diagnostic tools so our techs can resolve problems faster and more accurately than generalist vendors. You don't get "close enough" — you get it fixed right the first time.

Rapid Response

A down walk-in or a cold kitchen costs you hundreds of dollars an hour. Our 4-hour guaranteed emergency response exists because we understand that reality. We staff 30+ technicians across the metro area, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year — including holidays and blizzards.

Customer Partnership

Multi-location operators don't have time to manage a different vendor for every piece of equipment. MICO is a single point of contact — one service agreement, one account team, one call for every site. Our PM programs are designed specifically for restaurant chains that need consistent standards across all locations.
